Originally built to house our vehicles, a few stand as testimony to the great American love
affair ... with our automobiles. Some are within the housing structure and become absorbed
into the living space. Others, although outside, become houses in themselves: insulated and
heated, with bathrooms and perhaps even carpeted. Others are transformed for storage. Still
others are piled high with unwanted debris from the moving treadmills of life. Standing alone,
then falling into disrepute, leaning at odd angles, overgrown with vines and everyday
vegetation. Windows broken. Doors ajar. Covered in graffiti. Sore to the eye. Alone. Monument
to forgotten desires.
